Happy Endings

Happy Endings

Undermentioned are some of our animals that have found new loving homes after a bad start in life or have lost their previous homes due to circumstances unforseen.

If you have successfully adopted one of our animals albeit a dog, cat, rabbit, guinea pig, rat, mouse, gerbil or hamster let us know.

Send a photo (landscape rather than portrait) with the story of where your animal came from (if known) and about it's new life and we will add it to the list below.

Robbie

Robbie was adopted in March 2007 by Cheryl and her family. At the time he was very unhappy and really needed lots of love and care. He had many anxieties and was very 'down' at the centre but once in his new home he got lots of tlc and plenty of one to one attention.

Cheryl says he has overcome his problems and is such a lovely dog with a great temperament, he enjoys his walks and loves to be bathed occasionally. His favourite game is hide and seek and having a good rough and tumble. He is eight years old now and when he falls asleep he is just like an old man snoring on the settee. He is also very inquisitive and if he hears so much as someone rattling a paper his ears prick up and his nose is up in the air having a really good sniff, he is amusing to watch. He really has come home and is part of our family and we wouldn't be without him.

Alfie

Alfie arrived at Sunnydene Animal Shelter in 1998 after being found as a puppy wandering the streets of Hull. A volunteer dog walker on her day off took a liking to him and eventually took him home.

Alfie moved to Lancashire, he has the company of people and two other dogs all day and lives on the edge of open fields. His owner Barbara says Alfie is definately the best, he is the perfect house dog, good tempered and good looking and she would recommend anyone looking for a nice animal to try a lurcher, preferable from a rescue centre.

Amber

Amber came into the centre as Yoko who's elderly owners could no longer care for her. She was very quiet and frightened in kennels and never got out of her bed. She was use to a quiet home and the other dogs were far too noisy - they made her shake.

Enter Colin and Denise who immediately fell in love with her. She was adopted on 25th May 2008 the day after Hull City won promotion at Wembley to the Premier League - hence the new name of Amber. She was given a bath and a lovely big bed and toys. Amber says she has settled really well
and had her first haircut. The weather was hot and I had quite long hair so I feel much better now. You can see from my photo how smart I am. I go in the car everywhere with my new owners and each evening we go for an hour long walk along the Humber front at Paull. I love to play in the garden and I've just been told that I'm going to the Scottish Borders on my holidays and staying in Beatrix Potters brother's cottage.

Bailey

Bailey, a black, six month old labrador was chosen by Tracey Paul Ashleigh and Luke October 2007. He was too much of a handful for his previous owner so wanted him re homed to someone who could manage him.

He settled in with his new family remarkably well. They soon found him to be a 'water baby' and they cannot keep him away from the stuff. He loves trips to the beach and even muddy puddles in the local park. He is still full of energy and his family are waiting for the moment they keep hearing about when he will 'settle down'.

Bailey loves to be in their company and follows them from room to room, regularly lays at their feet and absolutely loves his morning cuddles on the settee. Although he has never chewed he loves their slippers!. He has been camping in Norfolk and loves the beaches there and they couldn't keep him out of the sea.

Tipsey

Tipsey was left in a phone box with her kittens. The kittens were quickly adopted just leaving mum on her own.

That is until she was spotted sitting quietly in our cattery by Louise and her partner. As soon as they saw her they fell in love with her huge eyes.

A week later after having passed their home check the couple took Tipsey to their home in a village in East Yorkshire. Louise says Tipsey is very affectionate and when they arrive home from work she runs for a cuddle, winding through their legs and when she's picked up gives them an affectionate head butt.

She loves to be nuzzled and will go out of her way to reach you. She is very delicate and loves to eat her food with her paws rather than stick her head in the bowl. She has a favorite pink mouse that she sleeps with tucked under her paw.
